The Xanadu sequence in Kentucky Route Zero itself contains many references to Adventure.

What's up with the massive hole? The massive hole is a reference to the Xanadu sequence from Act III of Cardboard Computer's episodic point and click adventure game Kentucky Route Zero.

Since Icicle has no 'drop' action, we decided to have the rod be automatically dropped and retrieved as part of the act of catching the bird.

Why is the brid nervous? In the original Adventure, the player is unable to catch the bird if they are carrying the rod.
